Election / Selection

The elections are here once more. The actors are getting prepared for the final rehearsals, babbling out their memorandum. Nobody is an enemy here, none is a friend. Its only the matter of time and then, enemies can reunite and friends can part. Nasty game this! One thing for sure, you need to be very good in mathematics, else numbers can crumble in front of your very eyes. Came across the ad campaign of jaagore.com. It's good, an eye opener. It makes us think hard about what we are really doing for our country. Are we using our responsibilities well? Of course not! Else, how come criminals and mafias rule the country? And we individually think about it and resign to the fact that what can "I" do alone! No. Its a collective responsibility. If I do it, you do it, he hoes it, she does it, they do it, tell me: Are we really alone?

But yes, election needs good selection as well. Personally, I feel the following, when it comes to selection of the right individual to vote in the locality.

DOS:
  • See what educational and cultural background he has.
  • In case he had been previously elected, how had been his performance then.
  • Does he have a criminal record? Then strictly NO vote to him.
DON'Ts:
  • Do not give priority to the party he hails from.
  • Do not give priority to what rest of your family and friends think about. Of course, it is a democracy and you can see for yourself how much one has done.
  • Do not waste your vote.
Of course, rigging and booth capture is a hard truth in many parts of the country and thanks to the musclemen, criminals can rule even from jail! I don't know whether such incidents occur in other countries, but in India, it happens.

As far as various political issues are concerned, we should keep our eyes and ears open and only look for neutral sources of news, because in this age of marketing, the media is also being used in a wrong way. Numerous times I have toggled news channels and found the same news being presented with different textures. However, as responsible citizens, we should be able to know what is actually going on in the middle.

I loved the slogan: Be the change you want to see.

How true!

Free to fly!

You are independent today.
Free of all bounds,
Free from the shackles,
Go bird!
You are free today!
Experience the world,
Fly high and reach for the stars,
Explore new destinations,
Never ever look back,
For what is there in this old wretched household!
You deserve much more!
For what is there in the mundane colors!
You deserve vibrant ones, shades of red, pink and golden!
You demanded independence!
So you have it!
Do not wait here.
Because you are free now.
Free to fly,
Free to explore,
The world is your playground.
Go and enjoy!
What with all the tears?
Do not shed...
They are precious!
You have everything you wanted
What more do you want?
Go bird, go!
Do not push my boat over muddy waters and cry
"Could you not have stayed a bit longer?"

Go bird go...

Because, if you wait,
It would raise hope,
It would raise expectations!

Expectations kill.
Please... please...
I don't want to die!

Go bird go...

As of now

Hey friends

How are you? The lazy bloke, that I am, I have again skipped the blogging classes!
In the mean time, a lot has been happening! I have literally become a workaholic, giving little time to myself or my thoughts! It has all been work, work and more work! And to say the truth, am really happy with it, coz, work helps a person stay occupied. Free time is like hell for me! I simply cannot decide what should be done. I have devised an easy way nowadays, though! Guess what! SLEEP! What else... Relax your body, move silently in your dreams and sleep. That's it and all. And I utilize whatever free time I have, in that manner.

And I am sorry! I have not been visiting the blogs, that I love to! I would try and make up for that. Nothing more to jot down at this point in time. Sometimes, I feel, with my profile visible to all with my name and all, I might have to switch to an anonymous version of my blog, coz, you know what! I feel crippled in terms of expressing my feelings.

Take care.

Bouts of...

...depression!
This is NOT because of 'anyone', BUT because I lose composure and peace of mind on a rarely basis.
NOT that my life can be controlled by others. I am the sole person who is in control of it!
BUT there are momentary lapses, when I just feel.... "mar jawan..."

Enjoy the video!

Cricket under attack

Away from the blog for the last couple of days, I had been preoccupied with mundane tasks. However, the last few days had been no short of incidents, the most prominent being the attack on the Sri Lankan team by the terrorists. No act of contempt is enough to condemn the deed. Hitting out at innocent sports personalities who were also proud ambassadors of their own nation defies all sense of morality and principles. However, I am crazy to have even expected this out of them, who do not spare babies and children!

Straight talk: Pakistan needs to tighten up the screws on the fundamentalists, if at all they want to avert such incidents. We are all amazed at how all the miscreants could leave the scene unscathed. Invariably, comparisons with the Mumbai attack are being drawn, but the cops and security forces out here had acted far more efficiently by nabbing one alive and killing the rest.
Today they blame India for the whole act (without any proof!). How funny! And to think all the terrorist outfits have their roots in their own land! Clearly, their democratic (or pseudo democratic) Government is incapable of reigning in the extremist elements and the army! Since independence, how many times have they been under a democratic form of Government? Every time, the country has sought democracy, it has been overturned!

I read in the newspaper today that former Pakistan cricketers like Miandad and Butt are blaming Chris Broad for maligning their security forces, 6 of whom had laid down their lives. However, how can we ignore Broad's words! The ministers are provided 6 to 7 times security than what the Lankan team had been provided with. This, after all International teams had declined to play matches in Pakistan and the PCB was in dire need of money! Still, there was a time when the whole contingent was being fired at indiscriminately and none of the security forces were at sight. Khalil, the driver of the team bus had been able to drive till Gaddafi, but what about the other vehicle. It was left at the mercy of the terrorists! Younis Khan has reportedly commented and requested the whole world not to let Pakistan cricket die and not to alienate the cricket crazy nation. Yes, we are all with them! But when will they kill the root to all these? When will they stop blaming India and look at rectifying themselves? When will foreign teams and delegates be provided with top notch securities? When will their cops stop yelling things like,"Why don't you drive yourself?"(when requested to help out of a war zone)? When will enmity and hatred give way to peace and friendship? Do they have answers to all of these? I guess not!

Entangled

Alone in the dark night
Sitting on the rock
Shoulders dropping
Eyes drooping
He tries to get up
He tries hard
But cannot..
He tries to surmount the shackles
But cannot..
He tries again
Tries and tries hard
Again and again...
Still cannot!
He asks himself, "Why?"
"Something stopping me???"
And then, it dawns on him
Chains they are!
Chains entangled all around him!
Chains which cannot be broken!
Shackles which cannot be overcome!
But why?
Did he try enough?
He did not...
So, try, try hard, try harder, try hardest!
Gather all might and break free!
But... still the shackles remain
The chains intact...
They would not let him budge
How long? How long would he stay there...
How long can the chains keep him under control...
How long the obstacles would restrain him?
Time is running away
No food, no rest, no sleep
None at sight
No help at hand
Something needs to be done fast
But how!
