Rakesh and Priya

...Rakesh was loving the feeling. He had a whale of a time with the girl he met online. Both seemed to like each other very much. She had something in her past which would not allow her to settle in the present. Memories seemed to haunt... haunt forever... yet whenever she visited Rakesh's awesome blog, his energetic posts, she felt rejuvenated. Priya had always been a bubbly chirpy girl. She could not keep feelings to herself. Feelings are to be shared - was her motto in life.

...blood... blood was spattered all around... darkness, melancholy, a deep sense of loneliness captured the scene. Priya woke up. Panting... deep breaths... tears in her eyes... oh.. what a nightmare... is it something that was inevitable... is it her past? ..her present? or her future?

After a moment taken to compose herself, she sat up straight on her bed, eyes set on the ticking wall clock... no, her present was happy.. she had happily forgotten her past... cast it into oblivion.. oh gosh, she was late. Again she would be late for her classes, but who cares. The same professor, the same blackboard, almost the same notes... She remembered Rakesh. Oh she likes his posts so much. The stories relate to her. It seems astonishing how one could write something where the protagonist of the story and the writer had never met and yet knew each other so well. Was she the protagonist herself or was the protagonist her clone? Rakesh would not reveal. She had only become addicted to his blog so much that each of his posts had to be commented on. She felt he was the only person in the world who could understand her... but alas, did he feel the same about her? She could not tell...

...there was a seminar in progress at the renowned Taj Hotels, Mumbai.. the speaker had so many charts and diagrams to present... but he could not concentrate. Why oh why had a girl occupied his mind? He thought he was immune to feelings.. Love was of course not for him. He empathized with the girl he had been interacting with daily. Her past was not the best. He tried to provide her with the cushion so that she may feel better.. that was it. But was that all? They had recently exchanged cell numbers as well. And the smses seemed to flow freely. He had so many female friends before. Is she different? No.. why the heck... he is happy in the corporate sector. He has his own gamut of friends.. he loves the life he lives... why should he get involved in something at this juncture in life? beep beep.. he looks at his cell phone.. one more message.. "Sweet heart, what are you doing? I loved that story you wrote.. related so much to me.." Rakesh's fingers automatically went to the "reply" button...

Time and tide wait for none... so this went on and on and on... till the time Priya felt - was this relation taking them anywhere? Is it only about blogging and commenting and chatting... would there be a culmination of this relation? is this infatuation? is this love? Yes, this is love... how would one otherwise define the ease with which both of them mingled... the understanding was profound... the intellects were shared... the likes and dislikes... no doubt she loved him... she loved him so much... passionately... but would he ever reciprocate? Was the "sweet heart" and "love" and hugs and kisses exchanged on messages only for the paper... was he so adept at flirting with girls? No.. not at all, he loved her... oh she was sure he loved her... but, wait how could she be so sure? Is there a difference between infatuation and love or flirtation and love? She needed him. She needed him to support her. Afterall he was the one who helped her come out of the deep emotional crisis she had before... he was the one who gave her the shoulder... who knows what she could have done, had he not been there... she would be indebted to him lifelong... but still, she wants to repay the debt... yes she wants to marry him... she wants to have a fulfillment that she had been longing for such a long time... will he? will he reciprocate? No, she won't propose him. Not at all. Let it be the way it is... every relationship does not have names... not every relationship needs names... let it be the way it is... let there be the soul connect that is there... for ever... and ever... and ever...

Untouchables

Drops of dew on the leaves
Blue bubbles in the air
Do not touch either
As that would end their existence
Let them be as they are
Let them float unabashed
Unscathed
Unobstructed
Let the dews sparkle beautifully on the sunny mornings
Let the bubbles render an aura of bliss to the air
Look at them from a distance
Do not touch either
See that child playfully prick a bubble
Or touch a dew
And there it vanishes
There it drops off
The child looks on... sad...
It was there... but now it's no more...
And oh, look there's another one...
Wonderful, thinks the kid!
Goes after yet again
And history repeats itself
And one day, the child realises....
"Drops of dew on the leaves
Blue bubbles in the air
Do not touch either
As that would end their existence
Let them be as they are
Let them float unabashed
Unscathed
Unobstructed
Let the dews sparkle beautifully on the sunny mornings
Let the bubbles render an aura of bliss to the air
Look at them from a distance
Do not touch either"

What is Friendship?

Back from an intermittent exile, here I am. First of all, let me wish all you readers out there a very happy friendship day. No matter which part of the world you belong to, today is the day to glorify friendship! If everyone could have regarded everyone as friends, the world would have been a different place to live in - no quarrels, no fights, no wars, no bloodshed... think about it!
That has been my dream for so long now, and yet to be realized and I am not sure, if ever that will be realized. *sigh*

Never mind , I thought what constitutes friendship. Is it about mutual trust and respect? Is it about alliance? partnership? In a recent study on friends and best friends, this is what Professor Kuezban had to say with respect to the newly coined Alliance Hypothesis for Human Friendship

"Friendships are about alliances. We live in a world where conflict can arise and allies must be in position beforehand. This new hypothesis takes into account how we value those alliances. In a way, one of the main predictors of friendship is the value of the alliance. The value of an ally, or friend, drops with every additional alliance they must make, so the best alliance is one in which your ally ranks you above everyone else as well."

The study also revealed that our mind subconsciously reads what our prospective partner (read friend) thinks about us. So, if we consider someone as our best friend, inherently we want to know if it is the other way round. So, a sort of mutual alliance is set up.

As per wikipedia, there are so many dimensions of friendships today, some of which are:
  • Soulmate - This is the ultimate form. Soulmates, sort of, die for each other. The ideal friendship - rarely found these days. Tell me people, do you have a friend who could die for you (I am not talking about love), or you could die for him(or her).
  • Penpal - You write to me, I shall write to you. We will exchange ideas and thus, we will know each other better and gather knowledge. Remember the days of postcards and inland letters? ...and of newspaper advertisements asking for penfriends (or penpals) [in the pre-internet boom era]? Why- even the day before, I came across a newspaper advertisement looking for penfriends, so it is very much there today.
  • Internet friendship - This is very much in place today. With hundreds of social networking sites, keeping in touch is really easy notwithstanding which part of the earth you belong to - only condition is you should have access to the internet. Some of the most popular networking sites today are Orkut, Facebook, Twitter, Zorpia, Fropper, Ning and Linkedin.
  • Comrade - This is a term very much use by the leftists in West Bengal when they refer to fellow political party workers. Mainly used to denote an ally, someone with a similar objective. Also used in military to denote team spirit and high esteem.
  • Casual relationship - This is considered to be a fling in the US. No expectations from either party - just for the sake of having a 'good time', whatever that means!
  • Boston marriage - Same as the legalization of Indian Penal Code 377। Do I need to say more?
  • Blood brother - Denotes blood relationships, , 'खून का रिश्ता' (in Hindi)
  • Open relationship - A relationship where the partners are free to choose others for fulfilment of physical desires. When this happens in marriage, it is called "Open marriage".
  • Roommate - The person who has lived with you at one point in time, generally in a hostel or a PG accommodation and do not share a family or romantic relationship.
  • Imaginary friend - General imagery created by a child when he or she considers someone as a friend - could be a living (example: a butterfly) or a non-living object (example: a doll).
  • Spiritual friendship - This refers to the kind of friendship with a higher purpose, as in Buddhist ideology. One of the friends can have more knowledge than the other and the relationship sweetens when the flow of knowledge enlightens both.
  • Inter species friendship - This is so common. Millions of us have pets in their households - be it cats, dogs, cows, goats, sheeps or something as weird as a venomous snakes! But when the creatures stay with us for a long time, a kind of friendship develops. Personally I had a cat who lived for 5 years and I loved it. We would play in the evenings and I used to be thrilled with all its antics. I am sure, many of you must have had similar experiences.
So, the word FRIENDSHIP is vast and used in a very wide range of scenarios. There are also theories that suggest factors which have an effect on friendship, some of which are:

  • Similarity - We instantaneously like people who are similar to us.
  • Proximity - "Out of sight, out of mind" is much more than a mere phrase. So, seeing each other often counts in a BIG way!
  • Reciprocity - This was discussed at the start. We tend to like people who like us and dislike those who dislike us.
  • Beauty - Looks kill. So, if you are beautiful, if you are good looking, if you are handsome, you definitely have an edge in making friends. People would fall flat to your charisma without you trying too much.
  • Competence - Last, but not the least: Nobody wants to make friends with idiots and duffers. So, if you have the skills, the competence, if you are sharp, demonstrate knowledge and intellect, there are hundreds who would be turned on!

Think about the people who are your friends (or whom you regard your friends). I am sure one or more of the above factors would be at play.

As the saying goes, "Great minds think alike", similarly, friendship develops among like minded individuals. You can probably empathize or sympathize with all. But while making friends, there would be more factors to count on. It's more than just a click on the button "Accept as a friend" on a social networking site!

A hot afternoon collage

I looked at the sky
A gamut of blue with a golden tinge
The Sun shining brightly
A hot sensation

I looked at my hands
Drops of pseudo-dew
Emanating an uncomfortable smell of my body
I am accustomed to it

The heat taking its toll
There, I see that naked little boy
trying to have a few drops of water from the corporation tap on the road-side
Poor him, all he gets is a drop
And then there is no more..
He looks at the sky..
Thirst written all over his face
His little body smeared with perspiration
The shabby old linen pant now only a discolored image of what it had been...

There's a crow perched high up on the tree
She has a piece of 'chappati'..
which she does not feel like having..
Every day, she waits for her partner
But today, he had not arrived
She wonders why..
Looks here and there
Tiny eyes search frantically

And yet, no signs whatsoever for him to return
She keeps the 'chappati' on a high branch
Held in position by her claws
Oh.. the weather is unbearable..

I observe all of these and more..
An unpleasant feeling all around..
Amongst all species..
As the day slowly goes from morning to noon..
There's an increasing feeling of 'no respite'

As I move down the small alley towards my house
I notice something on the road..
Oh.. a bird.. a crow..
he had fell off while in flight
Unable to survive the pain...
The heat being unbearable...
I am appalled at its plight..

I take him in my hand..
He stares at me with a blank expression
Probably trying to utter a word or two
For me to pass on to someone?
Someone?
Oh is she the one perched high on that tree?

But, oh no, he is no more..
I take him on my hand and move towards the tree
Where his partner (?) had been waiting for so long..

As soon as she notices me..
She flies away!
The 'chappati' falls off to the ground
Still intact in its round shape
Still untouched

As I bow down to take a look at the round piece..
Suddenly there is a loud groan above my head
The clouds begin their rambling
The drops flow
I close my eyes and feel the cold damp sensation

Finally, the monsoons begin..
Finally, the pain ends..
That naked boy dances in the rain *jai ho*

The ground is wet..
And wet are the eyes of that tiny little bird who lost her partner not so long ago!

A lurking fear

An unknown fear lurking in the darkness
Will I lose the ones I love so much?
History proves that things I love do not stay with me for long...
Will history repeat itself?
Will I lose the ones - the only ones who care for me?
Who have forever provided me with unconditional love...

Love and Friendship

“Friendship may, and often does, grow into love, but love never subsides into friendship.”
-- Lord Byron.

The reason I quoted this is, I often get to hear people commenting on couples broken up as... "They could have continued as friends." or, "Friendship is bigger than love" or like RJ Arvind went on air the other day, saying, "Who said love cannot turn into friendship?"

Well, it's all very debatable. It may be possible for some, not for others.

Essentially whenever a person falls in love and then out of it, a void is created instantaneously. The human mind immediately tries to fill the void with whatever is available at hand. If it really gets filled up, well and good. In that scenario, it is possible for the old love to turn into friendship. This is a good instance, as whatever pain had been there, is slowly minimized and may even become null and void at one point in time.

In another scenario also, this is possible. Suppose, if the person is hurt the first time around and he/she gets hurt even more the second time, it becomes easier to forget and forgive the first instance. Because now, the latest instance assumes a bigger proportion and the older problem seems lesser of an issue. However, this is an unfortunate instance in the sense that, here, the sorrow remains. It only transforms or to some extent gets distributed from one object to another.

The Lord had considered the quotation in only one light, where the unlucky person had none else to look forward to in the event of a break-up. It was logical as well in the sense that, society was not as open, as it is today. Love itself was sort of a taboo. And there were more boundaries than what was visible with the naked eye. But, in today's scenario, probably love can turn into friendship if the will and intention are in the right places.

But all said and done, there are very few people who have been able to prove Lord Byron wrong! Readers, what's your take on this? What do you think?

Corporate Love Birds

Pitch black darkness inside my office bus. It was 8:20pm at night and supposedly, I was the only passenger aboard. Dropped down my backpack with a certain amount of relief, folded up my specs and neatly wrapped with a small cotton cloth that I always carry. I felt good, going home at last. The fact that I was the only one aboard egged me on into starting a folk song. Well, as I cleared my throat and was about to begin the first line, that I found I was not the only one aboard. In fact I had almost succeeded in breaking the sweet honeymoon that a couple close by was engaged in. Thankfully, I was quick to understand my mistake and settled down as fast as possible without looking back, pretending not to notice.

Just a thought, is it becoming increasingly difficult for love birds to find a suitable happy hunting ground? And is the civic society being encroached upon as a result? Questions for you, readers. Pour your hearts out!

Free to fly!

You are independent today.
Free of all bounds,
Free from the shackles,
Go bird!
You are free today!
Experience the world,
Fly high and reach for the stars,
Explore new destinations,
Never ever look back,
For what is there in this old wretched household!
You deserve much more!
For what is there in the mundane colors!
You deserve vibrant ones, shades of red, pink and golden!
You demanded independence!
So you have it!
Do not wait here.
Because you are free now.
Free to fly,
Free to explore,
The world is your playground.
Go and enjoy!
What with all the tears?
Do not shed...
They are precious!
You have everything you wanted
What more do you want?
Go bird, go!
Do not push my boat over muddy waters and cry
"Could you not have stayed a bit longer?"

Go bird go...

Because, if you wait,
It would raise hope,
It would raise expectations!

Expectations kill.
Please... please...
I don't want to die!

Go bird go...

NOT that my life can be controlled by others. I am the sole person who is in control of it!
BUT there are momentary lapses, when I just feel.... "mar jawan..."

Valentine's Day

Glimpses of the moon over the sea bed
Water sparkling in shades of gold and silver
With the sky, a tinge of blackish red
They relax for hours on end
Only the two of them with the moon overhead
A blissful silence all around
Only the occasional roar of waves splashing hard
Against the solid rock bed
The clouds wander about silently
Often overshadowing the moon
Far away, sailing on the waves, are few fishing boats
Evident from their orange lanterns
With this extraordinary ambiance
The lovers silently come closer and lean against each other
The dark silhouette making it difficult to make out
Who is he and who is her
They are so 'made for each other'
As the night silently grow darker
The surroundings go calmer
A feeble folk mixes in the air
Sung far away by one fisherman
The guy slowly places a tender kiss
On his lover's cheeks and whispers:
"Happy Valentine's Day, dear"

So near, yet so far!

I saw you the other day. You were flashing a billion dollar smile, that made my heart melt instantly. Oh, you are so beautiful, sweetheart. I can stare at you without my eyes straining, for hours. The mesmerising smile, the beautiful lips, the curves, everything is so enticing, so inviting.
Alas! You are so far away!
Pity! The people who have made you stand there have no mercy on you!
You are there at the same place, every day, every hour, every minute, every moment.... staring at me with the same kind of intensity, the same kind of ardent devotion.
A silent prayer in your lips... "Please take me away from here, I am so tired, I want to sleep, I want to rest, those spotlights tire my eyes, I want the cosy corner of the bedroom, not the expansion of the blue sky above, not the drizzle and thunder that I encounter with, occasionally"
I say: Yes, my dear, I understand... I am not inhuman...
But... there is a big 'but' in here...

How can I reach you? You are so far away? So big on me? The nearer I get to you, the bigger you seem to me... Because, sweetheart, you are destined to be like that... Because, you are only a billboard!

You: Please..

I: ??

You: So?

I: Yes?

You: I said NO

I: Then I go

The extraordinary conference

Bingo!

Got an idea! Hey all you guys and gals out there, I have got an absolutely hot idea here.

Tell me how many of you are heart broken. There are many, right? So why don't all of us team up together and see if we can get something viable out of it. A conference where each speaker would be given appropriate chance to spit out his or her thoughts (or stories) and there would be others to listen. There would be separate rooms for unloading your tears and proper drainage mechanisms in place so that the area does not get flooded. There would be stalls providing various varieties of adhesives (mild, strong, quick fix) which would be used to mend the broken hearts. In case adhesives do not work, you can always go for welding, that way the fix would be better. There would be a cafeteria where you can relax after a gloomy day out. The theme music would consist of lots of soulful and sad numbers from Rafi and others who have made a mark in this specialised domain. In case a pair is formed from among the visitors, immediately they would be rusticated and would need to leave the conference. Presently I am looking for a good Guru to spark all of it off! Refer some one's name if you think he / she is capable of handling such a gigantic event! If all else fails, I would nominate people as per my own judgements.

So all you brokes (strictly by heart) out there! ENjoY! It's time to rock and roll!

Let the party begin!!!

==========================================

PS. This idea is an extended and fun version of this.

Hush hush

Do you use a chat client in your office? Yes, I mean for official communications? I hope many of you do, right? Now, have you thought how much of it is really productive?
Let me tell you a story. There were two individuals - X and Y. X is female and Y is male. Suddenly it became evident to us all that there was something cooking among the two. Both are colleagues. So I thought, let me sort this out! So I decided to talk to them and X, out of sheer shyness, denied the allegations. In given circumstances, Y also backtracked. The case, I thought, was closed. But, somehow my highly intelligent brain (next only to err... Holmes) could not digest it!

So I decided to keep a watch on both of them. No communication whatsoever! Whatever little, was purely official! So I thought, well well... may be... may be not...
And then what I found out was:
Every day, from dawn to dusk these people would chat on the chat client although they sat next to each other! Can you believe it? Somehow they feel we are all idiots and nothing would be evident!

Now this is what they would typically call "Love for technology" and I would call "Technology for love" ! LOL

Dreaming of you

I dream of you, oh sweetheart!
Every night you come to my dreams,
Weave an aura of mist around my very eyes
Help me go to sleep
Help me relax and silently weep
It seems as if you were with me all throughout
As a friend, as a companion, as a sweetheart
I feel a soft touch on my forehead
A touch that I had craved for so long
A touch of care, of love...
I forget that I have not seen you for so many years
You have hidden beyond the curtains
You have moved into oblivion
But now that you are with me
I won't let you go
Stay with me forever and ever and ever...
But as time flies
As I open my eyes
I realize...
You are nowhere
I search for you frantically
But you are gone, gone forever
I remember, you had said, "Its all over...."
Yeah its all over...
But in dreams? Why are you still in there?

What women really want?

Hey all you readers out there! Do you have any idea what women really want out of men? What are their expectations? How to convince them that really there is no bad intention? [not considering cases where men have images like Mogambo]
If you really care for them, they would say,"Why are you bothered?"
If you do not care, they would say,"What a haughty guy! What does he think he is!"
If you want friendship, they would think, 'oh! what a flirt!'
If you do not want friendship, they would think, 'am I not worth of a second look?' [expect tears]
You would think she likes you, but if you go up and propose, expect an answer like, "My God... How did you ever think like that? No, please, this is just not happening" or, "The answer is a straight NO" or, "I have told you before as well, why don't you understand?".
If you do not, she would stare at you in such an innocent manner as if you have committed a sin. Afterall, as one famous lady once commented, "The guys should advance first!"
And rejection is a piece of cake! A secret competition is going on...
Sarita: Hey Anu, how many have you rejected?
Anu: [with an air of superiority] 23
Sarita: Oops! then I have some catch up to do, jaan... last week I rejected one, thus my total is 19
Hmm.... and who are the victims? Ask that boy sitting silently in the dark corner of the park. If you notice closely, he might still be thinking what went wrong! What were his mistakes! And if there was a way to rectify! And then he finds out his ex-flame walking hand in hand with her new found crush! Amazing... isn't it? You girls simply rock!!!

PS. Girls who are reading this post might argue, but statistics won't support you. I can quote the author of a book on relationships, who says, most of the time girls are responsible for break-ups, not boys!

Love actually?

Few hard truths about love:

Love rarely exists, whatever it is, is mostly attraction, adjustment! The person's background and family always plays a pivotal role while being selected or... whatever...

The choice of a person is affected by the primitive mating behavior. If we study the mating behavior of animals, then we would see, when they select potential partners, it is most essentially unconsciously based on the other's superiority in some form or the other. The mind is trained in that manner. Say, in many species of wild animals, the males have to fight fiercely for a single female and she selects the one who wins! It has a scientific basis as well, since she wants her offsprings to be healthy, thus avoiding a weak male. Clearly, selection based on superiority! In human beings also, the same type of behaviour is observed. If we start liking someone, believe me, there is something in him/her that others lack, clearly a selection based on his/her superiority (over others)! Human society is evolved over millions of years, though males do not have to literally fight nowadays to win over a female, but the rules of the game are unchanged and do not vary markedly from other species. Another striking feature is, this trait of selection is particularly more prominent in girls than boys.So next time you get to hear stuffs like: "It was love at first sight", think about it!

It is very true that our brain is able to process an individuality of a person in the first two minutes of meeting each other. The body language gives in, and 80% of the notion is created then and there. The rest 20% notion is made or altered in subsequent meetings. But it is never Bollywood styled "pehli nazar mein..." love!
You might argue, "So what about the people who have been living happily for 20 odd years?"

My answer would be, "Yes, affecton develops over a time period. It does not happen overnight. What is being discussed here is love 'as we know it today'. A 'Harry met Sally' sort of affair!"

In a deeper context, love is a strong affection for someone, which is experienced and which is not bound by limitations of age, caste, creed, status, background, looks, wealth or whatever. But you see, it is non-existent in today's socio-cultural scenario. What we often think mistakenly as love is actually a liking, a crush and that too with a "conditions apply" tag!

PS. I am sure that I have already spurred a heated debate among people about what I have said, but these are my views based on experience as well as what I have studied till now on human behaviour and psychology. Any and every views are welcome!

Love Equations

Hi friends,

I am back with another post. Well, the topic this time is "Love Equations".
Not that I am going to write a romantic love story set on the lines of Laila-Majnu or Romeo-Juliet, neither any poem. Rather, I would try and assemble some of my thoughts scattered helter skelter till now.
Tell me something, have you ever fallen in love? Come on, you must have! There's hardly an individual in the civilized world who has not ever fallen in love. Now, has it ever happened to you, that a person whom you love does not like you. Quite possible, isn't it? The classical case of "Unrequited love"! But has something occurred like, someone loves you and you have got no clue!!! Hmm... I tell you thats equally possible. So barring the standard case of both-way traffic, how about a twisted one like:
A loves B loves C loves D.......

It might as well be a full circle, or even one with more than one loop. The tragedy in the above scenario is neither A, nor B, nor C, nor D is happy. But why is it so?
Only because, they don't know what is there in the other person's mind!
People do not usually tell because of numerous fears:
1) Fear of rejection
2) Fear of stigma in a conservative orthodox society
3) Fear of repurcussions
4) Fear of losing friendship

But had it occurred, like each was free to voice his/her views in front of all, then?
So let us have the declarations:
A -> I love B
B -> I love C
C -> I love D
....

Here, if C finds out that D is not interested in him/her, he/she might revert towards B. That way, as you understand, we have at least been able to make one pair out of the four individuals, which was impossible before. But this happens rarely!

I read about one other scenario in one of the management case studies which spoke about a situation in which, if men and women are allowed to openly disclose their preferences/likings for individuals, then the probability of effective pairing is enhanced.
Let me assume, there are 3 girls A, B and C
and 3 boys: X, Y and Z.
Suppose X and Y propose A
Z proposes C
B proposes Y.
The situation is quite possible. Please note that this should be an open declaration and each should know about the other person's intentions. In this scenario, all are locked with some dilemma or the other. So how to find the way out?
First take the case of A. She has been proposed by two guys and she can't decide whom to pick. So she keeps both on hold. B has proposed Y and Y keeps it on hold coz, A's decision is pending. The scenario where Z has proposed C is the easiest because there are no rivals and eventually, this would be successful, if Z persists. So we take Z and C out of the total equation.
Now, we are left with X,Y and A,B.
The plan is to periodically let X and Y propose A. There would be a time when one of them would get bored of the situation, or be disheartened. If Y drops out, which is quite likely, since he knows there's someone waiting for him and even if he leaves, he would have B for company, the situation is perfectly matched. Then the couples would look like:
A-X
B-Y
C-Z
In the less likely case, if X drops out, we have a problem, in the sense that both X and B become singular then. Then the situation is like:
A-Y
B -----
C-Z
X -----
Then either B and X will have to look for individual avenues or have to patch up together. Patching up together would be an issue, because they never had any feelings for each other.

Everything is logical, isn't it?
However practical things seldom work out like this, simply because we are most essentially driven by heart, ego, sentiments and to a much lesser extent by brain!

Lovers categories

Hey people out there

In one of my last posts, I had mentioned that I am currently carrying out a study on the types of lovers that I see daily on the streets, buses, cabs, parks, tubes, restaurants, office, theatres and even social networking sites. So here are my findings. I hope you would find it interesting!

Types of lovers:

1. Lover kids

With the advent of romantic films in each and every household which are viewed by children, this category is on the rise. Typically, these children see a certain Shahrukh or Hrithik in themselves (or even Genelia or Preity). They dance to their heart's content in front of the mirrors and assume they have fallen in deep love. Romance at this age is very innocent and usually develops while exchanging notes or playing a bit of kabaddi. Girls, as always, are tempted by the boys, but being more mature, they play hard to get! [They know that funda from an early age] lolz... :D

2. Adolescent lovers

These are the more of the die-hard types. They are even ready to cut their wrists and risk their lives, while trying to show how much they care about their loved
ones, but sadly for them, it never happens that way! They dare walking down the streets with their loved ones hand in hand, though few of them would say things like, "We are just friends" or "No uncle, we are only brother and sister" when asked straight on the face. A short-lived type of romance and usually ends in tears!

3. College goers

Boys tend to be more daring and girls like to be bolder. They don't care for the elders any more. "Hey uncle, if we are making out, who are you to shout?" kinda stuffs... Things might go terribly wrong if people are not mature enough. Love triangles are mostly seen in this genre. And for some specific couples, they should think of Bula di before they think of something else! [Caution: I am only following the law of averages, so do not beat me up in the dark]

4. Office darlings

I am still a firm believer that office romance is all nonsense, simply because when any kind of business comes in the way of love, it usually suffers. But still
there are ample instances. What I have observed among these types is typically like: Romance develops while attending training sessions, helping each others out with problems and stuffs and during the lunch breaks. Most people involved here are already experienced, so they are mature, thus a somewhat greater chance for it to blossom. But beware: Keep out of the boss's eyes, else you are in big trouble! :P

5. Mid-age romance

There are few unfortunate ones, who could not get someone throughout their prime. They feel alone, bored and look out for like-minded partners. They feel at this age it is sort of a taboo, so they try to remain undercover. Next time you browse Orkut, look out for a "sexy Tina" or "Mohit alone" sort of profile and you would know what I mean!

6. Old-age illusions

Nope, I am not talking about the likes of Big B as in Nishabd. But these people are often terribly alone, many of them having had lost their life partners. These people search for their late spouses in young guys (or girls, as applicable). They love to see a spark similar to their long lost friends, but usually get disappointed on not
finding anyone, similar! Unfortunate instances, doubtless!
However, there are more fortunate ones, who are still coupled up and try to find their own spark in their children, they try to live their long lost romance through them!

Friends, as I feel, these are all cases with the law of averages and based upon the Indian scenario. These are all generalized and might be totally wrong. Nevertheless,
these are my views based on experience (I mean what I have seen). Any and every comment is welcome. :))
